Rev Ronald Card, President of the Board, Pastor of the Center
I was born and raised in Syracuse, New York. I have one sister, Karen, and three brothers, Dick, Chuck, and Ken.
In 1977, I flew to San Diego, California to visit a relative. I enjoyed my visit so much that I decided to stay.
In 1983, I met my beautiful wife Linda and in January 1986 we were married. Between us we have five children. They are Tony, Gina, Pam, Mike, and Scott. In February of this year my daughter Gina made her transition. It was Linda who first introduced me to the Science of Mind philosophy.
In 1995 we started going to church at the Vista Church of Religious Science. I was so taken by this philosophy that I decided to enroll in classes and within a few short years entered into practitioner studies. In July of 2000 I graduated as a licensed Practitioner. I decided to continue on in my studies and in July of 2003 I graduated as Staff Minister.
I transferred to the Temecula Valley Church under the direction of Rev Pat Campbell. As a Staff Minister, I started a Grief Support Group which met twice monthly and was open to the community as well. I counseled people, did memorial services and taught Science of Mind classes.
In July of 2008, I had made the decision to start my own Center, what we call a new works. On September 7, 2008 we had our very first service. We meet at the Hampton Inn, located in the San Marcos area.
Since our opening on September 7, we have been enthusiastically pursuing our vision of being a full service spiritual center. I serve as Pastor of the Center and I am the President of the Board of trustees.
Gary Burley, Treasurer of the Board
I am a second generation California Native born in Santa Monica.
My wife,Sheri, and I met in high school at La Habra High in the 1960's.
I graduated from BYU in Business Management/Marketing. Three years later I returned to Grad School while raising two little boys. My daughter, Michelle, was born three years later in Walnut Creek, CA.
I have ten Grandchildren which all reside in the Phoenix, Arizona, area.
I spent the first 40 years of my life as a member of the LDS Church (Mormon). I served in various Church government positions as well as a proselyting missionary.
The Church of Religious Science has been an important part of my life for the last ten years. I am truly grateful for Ernest Holmes and his teachings. I am currently serving on the Board of Trustees at the Center for Spiritual Living, San Marcos. My wife and I enjoy planning social activities for the Church and are looking forward to many years of fun, learning and fellowship with our Church Family.
